Minister of Transport Visits Dalepak

Date 16/10/2014

Baroness Kramer, Minister of State for Transport, has today announced £1.3 million worth of funding to help an East Midlands company bring 150 new jobs to Northampton.

Dalepak Limited - an experienced logistics partner who specialise in warehousing, distribution, packing and internet fulfilment - will receive the award as part of a £9.5 million expansion project that is set to provide a boost to the region.

The Minister today toured the company to see how the cash from the Regional Growth Fund (RGF) is helping to boost jobs and growth across the region through a new dedicated electronic picking, packing and posting service.

Baroness Kramer said:

“The Government’s Regional Growth Fund is helping create thousands of permanent jobs that stimulate private sector investment and rebalance the economy. The people of Northampton will benefit significantly. Companies like Dalepak Limited and the people that work there are helping us to build a stronger economy and a fairer society for this generation and the next.”

So far £150 million of RGF money has been invested in businesses across the East Midlands, helping to create 39,000 new jobs as companies have committed to investing an additional £1 billion. Across the country the RGF has funded private sector projects which will create 573,000 jobs, attracting £16 billion of investment from business and industry.

The latest round of bids - Round 6 - guarantees at least a further £200m of funding nationwide that will create thousands of jobs and further fuel our recovery. This round has seen 174 bids across the country totalling over £800 million - with 11 bids totalling £43 million in the East Midlands. Ministers are visiting companies around the country today following a meeting of the Local Growth Committee in Stockport chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg.

Joint Managing Director, Michael Finn said:

“The awarding of the regional growth fund to Dalepak will enable our business to invest in cutting edge technology and equipment so that the services we provide in third party logistics continue to be of the highest standard. Investment such as this will give us the capability and confidence to create new jobs so that we are best placed for increases in demand and continuing growth.”
